iPod FM Transmitter Reviews: Now You Can Listen To Your iPod Through Your Car Stereo
Once you own an iPod, it’s pretty difficult to be separated from it. Because it stores the source of your musical inspiration, you really need access to it at all times. However, driving your car is an odd time to be wearing earphones when you have a pretty powerful Hi-Fi system centered on your car radio. Fortunately, help is at hand.
There is a whole range of FM transmitter accessories available that you can use with your iPod to enable your FM radio to access your favorite tracks. They work very simply. You plug the transmitter into your iPod, select one or more FM frequencies to broadcast on, and tune your radio. It’s as easy as that.
If you have enough ready cash, Apple has a deal with BMW to preinstall an FM transmitter accessory in their latest models. For the rest of us, some transmitters are easier than others to install. You can have a transmitter that plugs into the iPod case and draws its power from the iPod. The downside is reduced battery life. Others need access to the cigarette lighter adapter and some need to be hard-wired and earthed (grounded) to the chassis. You also need to consider which model of iPod you are using. Some FM transmitters work well with all models, whereas some are designed only to work with specific models like the iPod Nano.
Sound quality can vary considerably and it won’t surprise you that the more complex systems that are harder to install produce the best sound quality. However, it is too easy to get carried away. The simpler, cheaper systems produce adequate sound quality for the majority of people.
iPod FM transmitters are a great way to use the flexibility of your iPod while you’re on the road. If you’re into sound quality, you can pay to achieve it. Otherwise. playing your download tracks is just a plug and play away.
